Garlic Egg Fried Rice Recipe



Garlic Egg Fried Rice is a simple yet flavorful variation of the classic fried rice, where garlic takes center stage, providing a rich aroma and taste. This recipe is quick to make and makes a great side dish or a light main course. Here’s how you can prepare it:


Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old, chilled)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4-5 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn, etc., optional)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (or to taste)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil (for extra flavor)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (or any neutral oil)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Optional: chili flakes or chili sauce (for spice)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients Beat the eggs in a small bowl and set aside. Mince the garlic and chop the onion and green onions. Prepare your soy sauce and sesame oil.
  2. Cook the Eggs Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium heat. Add the beaten eggs and scramble until fully cooked, then remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. Sauté the Garlic and Onion In the same pan, add the remaining oil. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion, and sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and the onion becomes translucent. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  4. Add Vegetables (Optional)If you're using mixed vegetables, add them now and sauté for another 2-3 minutes until they’re tender.
  5. Stir-Fry the Rice Add the chilled rice to the pan, breaking up any clumps. Stir-fry the rice for 3-4 minutes until it’s heated through and slightly crispy at the edges.
  6. Season the Rice Add the soy sauce and sesame oil to the rice, and stir well to evenly coat the rice with the seasonings. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt, pepper, or more soy sauce, as needed. If you like it spicy, you can add chili flakes or a bit of chili sauce.
  7. Combine the Eggs Add the scrambled eggs back into the pan and mix everything together until the eggs are evenly distributed throughout the rice.
  8. Garnish and Serve Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.
